Zoned in on the ball and poised to make the interception in a routine summer league football game, the last thing senior Michael Widrig remembers is the sensation of an elbow striking the inside of his mouth.  The blow resulted in three knocked-out teeth and a broken wrist. Nearly two months afterward, Widrig is ready to help his team to a successful season.

“The recovery process was the hardest part.  Because of the fact that I was missing my front three teeth, eating became a very difficult thing,” Widrig said.

The reconstruction of Widrig’s teeth became the next task.
“I had to get a bone graft.  That basically means that [the surgeons] had to take out my wisdom teeth and use them to remake the bone for my new teeth to fit into,” Widrig said.
With three new teeth and a recovered wrist, wide receiver Michael Widrig has finally recuperated and is ready to contribute to the team this upcoming season.
